Buenos Aires, December 13 (NA) – A tribute was held this Saturday at the Recoleta Cemetery to former Buenos Aires Province Governor Manuel Dorrego, on the occasion of the 197th anniversary of his execution. Official sources informed the Argentine News Agency that the ceremony took place at the entrance of the Mausoleum-National Historic Monument, which belonged to the founder of the Federal Party and was built by Juan Manuel de Rosas (1793-1877). The event was attended by the Minister of Government of the Province of Buenos Aires, Carlos Bianco; the Mayor of Esteban Echeverría, Fernando Gray; the provincial deputy for Santiago del Estero, Liliana Romero; the president of the Juan Manuel de Rosas Institute of Historical Studies, Gelly Cantilo; Santiago Ceria, a descendant of Colonel Manuel Dorrego; and the leader of the Federal Party, Daniel Madeo. Juan Lavalle gave the order to execute Dorrego, who died on December 13, 1828, at the age of 41 in Navarro.
